October 12, 2008: We woke up to our first snow! So, I guess a warm weather wrap-up is now due.
Bob and I went to Dinosaurland with Stephen and Sherry’s family. We stayed in Vernal at the KOA and toured the area. It is a beautiful place. Alex, Ethan, and Jaron had a lot of fun! We even went swimming.
My brother, Robert, arrived with his lovely new bride, Karen. We took them on a whirlwind of activity. Of course we visited Salt Lake City so that Karen could learn first hand about Mormon history and culture. We traveled on the Heber Creeper train, took a float trip down the Provo river, and had dinner at Robert Redford’s Sundance. They joined the rest of our family for a houseboat vacation on Lake Powell and also managed to get in a trip to Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Zion’s, Cove Fort, and Kanab! Everyone fell in love with Karen. We are all looking forward to their next trip, and we promise to make it a more relaxing vacation!
This was our Lake Powell houseboat trip. It was such a new and exciting, (sometimes very exciting) trip. We will probably wait until our 11 grandsons grow a bit more before returning. But they had a great time. I loved sleeping on top of the houseboat at night.
This was a Friday night campout at Mutual Dell in the American Fork canyon. What a beautiful place and what fun the cousins have together when they are out in nature!
Our annual Cherry Hill campout and swim fest. I loved watching the boys play together in the water! Everyone attended and had a great time!
Both Sherry and Gayla had new babies. #11 was Gavin – what a handsome boy he is! #12 was Ally Marie – what a beautiful princess, and such a brave girl to arrive among so many boys! Thanks Gavin, for bringing down a girl with you from heaven!
Our trip to Bryce Canyon and Red Canyon. You must hike down into the canyon, if only for a few moments. The view there is so amazing. You just can’t get a feel for it on the rim. We camped at Ruby’s and took a dip in the hot tub.
My work party at the Scera pool. Gayla and Dennis brought their boys, who had a great time swimming after dark! What a beautiful park!
BYU tour – For a special grandma day, I took the oldest boys, Scott, Eric, Alex and Dallin on a golf cart tour of BYU. We also visited the student center for dinner, watched some students bowl, played ski ball, had BYU ice cream, went to the museum with all the animals, and saw a show in the planetarium. The boys were very good!
Bob and I took off for Moab, Arches, and Canyonlands. We had a blast hiking and biking. And we floated down the Colorado river at night. We love southern Utah! The weather was perfect!
Gavin and Ally were both blessed by their fathers in September. What a blessed month was September.
We stretched out the warm days with a final family campout at Mutual Dell. The grandsons looked like the seven dwarfs as they followed each other and Snow White, (Sherry) in the dark with their little lanterns. The evening was perfect, but during the night, oh how it rained. Stephen showed up at our camper in an emergency poncho in the morning. So much for warm and dry days! I miss the warm already!!
There's a variety of things to visit here at www.KinserFamily.org. On this page you'll find Candy's Corner which is all about Grandma Candy's time with the grandkids and other experiences. You'll also find links to other sites including Stephen's family photos at Kinsers.org and The Muhlesteins as well as information about past and future family events. The Photos page contains snapshots of the most recent family events. For family history buffs, there's Holly's Hutch with information about four different lines of family history. There's also Bob's Page with "A Mormon's Point of View" commentary as well as a collection of humorous items that everyone can enjoy. All in all there's much to browse and see when you have nothing else to do.
I've been riding my motor scooter to work the past few months. I appreciate getting 80 miles per gallon. I can fill up the tank on just a few dollars. I really enjoy taking a ride up into the canyon through the mountains. Reminds me of the great times my brother and brother-in-law would ride around the back roads of Pennsylvania on our motorcycles exploring places I'd never been before. Gonna miss the bike riding when winter weather comes and stays awhile ... about 4 months. Already looking forward to next year's warm weather.
